The door hinges on my '77 .... I can get to the 6 bolts to adjust at the hinge to door point, it's them 6 at the other point where the hinges bolt to the cab itself I need to figure out ... guess I'll be making a 1/2" wrench to loosen to adjust and then tighten them tomorrow. What configuration do y'all whom do it often find useful?
No one had a favorite I see. Today I took two different old double ended 12 point 1/2-9/16 box wrenches, did a little cutting, welded them, the 9/16 end let me use a 1/2" steel bar inserted as a little extra leverage. I fully rxpected the use of the steel bar might break a weld .. but it didn't. The wrenches give me reach with the door open to get to those three bolts holding hinges to the cab. The deeper one let me get over the near bolt and onto the far bolt, the shallow longer one worke well too but the shorter one got the most use. They let me get to the bolt heads while clearing the painted door. I might smooth the outer edge of the weld.
I have a few others unmolested, I buy wrenches with labels like "Vanadium" on them at antique shops, good steel. Model A Fords had a lot of vanadium steel in axles, spindles, etc ... why they are so tough. I'll include this pic,. might help someone else some day. I used E7014 3/32" rod on AC @ 90A ... and now I have hinge wrenches.
The pawn shops around here have SEVERAL old wrenches in bins where you can just go pick out a couple and modify them.
(I need to go wrench shopping!!!!)
