10 Spd throwing yellow wrench code

Every now and then my truck will while at a stop light feel like someone just bumped me in the rear end. The yellow wrench light comes on but still lets me drive it. If I shut it off light goes away. This has happened for a while and at last service our shop did an update to computer. That did not fix as it just did it again. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks and I did search this out for about 20 minutes with no luck.

First thing to do is have the code read while it's on. Or get started with Forscan and read it yourself.

Thanks our shop foreman says call dealership and plan on doing it soon. I'm hoping someone can tell me more before that happens.

A wrench light can be on be any reasons. You won't get your answer without reading it. Not sure what you want your answer to be?

Just asking if anyone else had same problem and what it was. This is a work truck with all my tools on it so laying it up for more than an oil change is a pain. Thanks.

Taking it in without the light on will be a waste of time. I would call the shop and tell them what's happening. Ask if you can stop by the next time the light is on so they can get the code.

Many auto parts stores can read the code. When the wrench pops up, stop by the store and leave the truck running.

Didn't think of that. Thanks. Still plan on calling local Ford Fleet Shop tomorrow.

Hasn't thrown code lately. Seems like if I stay in Tow Haul it doesn't. Called dealer and plan to get in as soon as it throws it again.

Normally the codes will be stored in non-volatile RAM even if the check engine light is not on. It will be there until you disconnect the battery for a while. That is how old vehicles work at least.

Got it into shop today. There is a TSB for this. They reflashed computer and let me have it back. Will update if more problems.
