5.0 cam phasers
I have a 2019 5.0 f150, just got back from the dealer, 70k miles, yep they said normal to have to replace the cam phasers, about $2500. Ford is not going to do anything for building JUNK. I have a 2013 F150 5.0 150k miles sounds like the day it was new no issues at all. Ford is determined to build 100k mile vehicles. Total Trash.
Had a VCT issue on my 2018 F150 5.0. Drove it for years as my company truck and kept it in great condition. It came up for replacement at work and I decided to buy it as the company made me a smoking hot deal. 2 months later, the dreaded rattle at each start up after sitting a while. Drove great other wise. I bit the bullet and upgraded to an F250 I found a great deal on up in VA. Drove up and traded my F150 and the dealer gave me $3500 more on trade than I paid for it. I dodged the bullet on that one!
I was using Liqui-moly for quite a while with good results. It eliminated oil consumption on the 2013 5.0 F150 I purchased in 2020 with 177K on the clock. However, after doing some research I found that Liqui-Moly does not hold the moly component in suspension. It will fall out and collect in the oil pan. The agitation of the crank will return some of it to the oil supply, but not necessarily all that was added to the oil supply. I started using an alternate product, Lube-Gard which does maintain the moly component in suspension and providing the full benefit of the additive from the moment it is poured in and at every startup.
