I have a 1989 F150 and the rear antilock light is on I want to know if there is a sensor or should I take the light bulb out. I also want to thank you for the help on the previous transmision problems.
I have replace the axle sensor and tran sensor and
my anti still are turned off.
Come to find out that I had
A. Cuts in my wiring
B. Anti-Sensor box was bad.
and on and on.
Fixing the problem can cost allot of money
Even if you do fix the problem the anti lock brakes might not still work since the little light is telling that a sensor is not sending an okay code not that they will work 100 %.
Are you having any braking problems ? Often times small metal particles attach themselves to the rear anti lock brake sensor mounted in the top of the rear diff . These particles bridge the gap between the sensor and the trigger wheel causing the light to illuminate . Its a simple fix , remove the sensor and wipe any metal particles from it and reinstall . It takes less than 5 mins to find out if this is the cause of the light being illuminated .
