I'm thinking about buying a new/used truck. I would like a few inputs from you guys. Every year I compete in a race down in Fla. and must haul my car down from Co. I also as a hobby run a buisiness rebuilding salvage wrecks. It's a new gig and I really haven't made alot of $$$ yet, but my day job pays pretty decent. Currently I have an '02 F-150, 2wd, v-6, auto. It does the trick for the time being, and when I bought it, it was also a daily driver/commuter.(paid 13k for it new, own it outright) Since then I'm driving a $h1tb0X Kia for fuel economy. My dilema is this, I need to take 2, possibly 3 cars to Fla this year, so I was thinking about buying a large 5th wheel open car trailer. It would be overkill for the most part, but I still could only haul 1 car if I liked. I'm looking at an '00 F-250, Supercab 4x4, with a 7.3T/auto. It has 96k on it. The Dealer wants 19k, says he'll give me 11k for the 150. The mileage isn't too bad, and I can fix about anything myself. Does it sound like a good deal? Is there any concerns with this model I should be aware of? On a side note, my wife drives an '99 Exploder Sport. I does triple duty as a commuter(only a few miles each way), car with back seat, and 4x4 for bad weather. We think the thing is a bit of an underpowered turd(non-soc 4.0), but funtional.(read as: she wouldn't really miss it) We thought about trading it in too,(NADA $6500) and replacing it with another Kia beater.(I have many, hehehe) The 250 could do all of that.(read as: justify this transaction.) What do you guys think?
Sounds like a good plan to me, Franken. Even though you will more than likely only haul one car on the trailer,,, always good to be able to go that extra step when the opportunity presents itself. The 11k seems alittle low, only slightly, but that's with the info I have now. I'd say do it
HAHA 11k is decent for an 02 with miles and that 4.2..I would be lucky to get 9 out of my 02....granted it has 40k now....19k still seems high for something with 100k....maybe not though...
