Frustration!

Having had a 350 7.3 Lariat extended cab for 22 years on the ranch, I wanted to join the 21st century so I ordered the new version- 6.7 extended Lariat 350. My 2000 box came off immediately to be replaced with an aluminum flatbed with toolboxes which is infinitely more useful than the fragile box. So naturally I wanted a flatbed on the new truck and I wanted some of the Lariat goodies- heated/cooled, leather, better stereo etc. But no option to bed delete unless the plain jane xl. And way complicated electrical issues if I were to take the box off, having to do with all the sensors in the taillights. The Ford solution is cab and chassis with greatly depowered engine. Probably the main reason I want a ford is the power of the engine to tow very heavy loads. To spend this silly amount of money on a truck and not be able to easily mount a flatbed seems nuts. That’s my rant for now, open to suggestions.

They have a solution for this. Google it. You can get past the blis and reverse camera.

You can turn off those features.

It sounds like some people have been able to turn these features off, but others still have warnings on the screen. It’s a shame to disable safety features that have already been paid for, too bad there isn’t an aftermarket fix.

Forgot to say the dealer warned me of Ford being cranky about warranty if a flatbed exchanged for a box. Cited several instances where minor alterations of stock resulted in denied warranty coverage.

There are bed manufacturers that can retain the stock tail lights but I dont think it would be a flat bed.

If its a service body it would need to be the lower kind so you can tow a GN.

I dont know about warranty issues unless your installer is a hackjob.

@Gnew , I've walked through these guy's shop and seen first hand some of the work they're doing. I don't know jack about flat beds but they had a ton of pickup truck beds that were take-offs from putting on bodies and flatbeds that they made. They're located in Casper, Wyoming.

Any reason why not a F350 Chassis Cab Lariat?

There are an insane number of F250/350 conversion beds in the TX panhandle for there NOT be a work around; most will have a solution. Good luck

I believe it is because the chassis cab configurations are a de-tuned version.

I don't know if it applies in this situation, but there was a post within the past week that pointed out that the "de-tuned" versions of the 6.7L weren't really de-tuned, they just had a different way of rating the power. I didn't read the post enough to retain the details.

I think you're referring to Chassis Certification vs. Dyno Certification. PDF attached

They can't legally deny warranty coverage on the whole truck just because the bed was replaced with a flatbed.
They could deny coverage for bed related issues, but what would those be???
I really don't think this is a real issue, owners have removed bed boxes and added flatbeds ever since they first started making pickup trucks.
