PCM Fault 1 shows up when I hook my scanner up to my truck. It wont set the I/M readiness. Live data shows the o2 heaters going on and off. But the live data also shows o2 sensors ok. WTF
Sorry about that. LOL My bad. Just looking to get my new truck inspected. Wont pass now because the o2 sensors are not being tested by the PCM. I have a 2002 F250 XLT with a 5.4
Do you have the code? If you just got a new battery or the battery went dead you will have to drive it for awhile to get the monitors ready. Probably not the PCM.
No code. No battery change. But it says Fault 1. Ill get you all more info as soon as i figure out how to post pics. Ill show you what the code reader is showing.
Better go look at the emissions sticker under the hood to see if you have a California or a "Federal" emissions system.
You're likely wasting your time trying to get non-existent sensors to come to ready. Lot's of threads on this issue (in the appropriate sub-forums...).
Sparce information leads to "20 questions" which causes a lot of knowledgeable guys to simply ignore you. You're already on that border due to the vagueness you've presented....
OK I dont believe it but I missed something big. Somewhat embarrassing but the downstream sensor is gone! The exhaust was replaced from the cat back and it looks like they cut just before the o2 bung so they can ad exhaust pipe from there. Right now I am going bat**** crazy trying to find the plug that lead to the downstream sensor. I can always weld a bung in and get the downstream sensor setup like stock. looked all over the internet but cant find any info on the location of the connector. Can someone please give me a clue as to where the connector should be?
Go back and re-read post #5. "Federal" emissions vehicles don't have downstream sensors. Go look in the Super Duty and Excursion forums, this isn't an engine-specific issue.
Project sho89 is right. If it's federal emissions it doesn't have the downstream sensor. Pcm fault 1 means nothing. You must have a code in there somewhere. Maybe try a different scanner or go to one of the chain stores and have them scan it for you. The monitors don't get ready because the PCM is seeing something it doesn't like. Watching data and saying they are working means nothing. O2 sensors can set lots of different codes and appear to be working. Find the code and it will be easy from there.
