I recently bought a 1995 F-150 4x4 with the 5.8l engine. While towing a 4000 lb trailer from CA to CO, I noticed that my "Check Engine" Light would come on occasionally while going up a hill. Sometimes it would turn off going down, sometimes it would stay on until I turned the engine off. Once I turned the engine off and on again, it would go away. It has happened once since then while not towing a trailer. Otherwise, no light. Any thoughts on what this could be? Is this something I can check on the computer box (blinking lights, codes, etc) even though the problem is intermitent? If so, where is the computer box? What are the recommended guides/repair manuals? Thanks for any help you might have -- I am new to Ford Trucks.
Thanks for the note. I just bought a Chilton's manual and will do the check tonight. One thing I didn't explicitly find is where the output socket is... where I need to plug in the jumper wire and such. If someone can drop me a quick note telling me where it is, I'd appreciate it.
