I have not verified the light ring/lights part numbers but I have verified the connectors and the harness I make will work on the F150 to allow you to add them.

the cup holders are the same for a 2016-2020 F150 and a 2017-2022 SD the 21 F150 has a cup holder that looks more like a Ford Edge cup holder. I hope this helps and answers the question.

 

yeah, I’ve been searching for 2021 F150 parts and found the cup holder but can’t identify the ‘light ring’ part.

So maybe someone that has better access to parts can identify it for the F150 2021 lariats with ambient lighting.

What is it with Ford and their ambient lighting? In 2019 they randomly decided to make ambient lighting non-adjustable in any way (including brightness), but at least the cupholders were illuminated. Now they make it adjustable again but kill the cupholders? So I guess that means I have to tack on whatever the cost of the parts for the cupholders is to my build for my new '22. If I didn't know any better I'd think that Ford enjoys reading these complaints LOL

I’ve call numerous Ford parts departments for cupholder light ring and wiring for F150 21’-22’
I keep being told the original parts you posted are shown to be good for F150 15’ to 22’.

So I’ve ordered the parts below for my 22’ F150 coming in to address the missing cupholder lighting. I’ll still need to get a harness from you.

FYI, light rings are on back order. Only a few dealers around the US still have maybe 1 in stock.

 

i can tell you that the cup holders are different if you look at a 2016-2020 F150 or 2017-22 super duty vs the 21/22 F150 the cup holders are different. I don’t think the light ring is going to be the same your 21+ F150 has a cup holder that looks more like a Ford Edge did they try the ML3Z part number I listed? I had a guy that checked with fairway and that’s the part number they gave him.

 

I called Fairway in GA and talked with the parts guy for awhile. He sent me this picture of ambient interior lighting looks to be the same parts. I asked about the ML3Z part, that doesn't seem correct.

 

Ok need to clarify a few things sorry this is an ever evolving thing since I dont have an F150 to verify all this on. and thanks to Patrick D he has done some leg work that helps a lot also. also thanks to Brant P for allowing me to take apart his 22 F150 I will be adding to this write up sunday with F150 information for installation. with that said heres a parts list.

the difference in these 2 part numbers is the connection. One is male and one is female(THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR BUILDING A HARNESS OR ORDERING ONE!!!!)

Ok guys apparently this is a popular mod for the F150 guys now too lol so I got the chance to help someone local to me install this in the 22. He kept the cup holders from his 21 and had the dealer install them. Ill try to do the best I can explaining the process to install them though. youre going to have to remove parts of the dash. ill add a video I found that shows taking the dash apart.

Step 1. remove the 2 side pieces of the console these just clip on theres no screws or anything.


Step 2. youll have to remove the trim piece that separates the radio from the HVAC controls(sorry no pictures because the dealer put the cup holders in) but watch the video ill link and it will show it
Step 3. remove the 3 screws holding the HVAC controls in, once those are removed pull on the sides of the HVAC controls it will pop free they are clips after the 3 screws are removed
Step 4. pull up on the center console all around the edges it will pop free(no screws from what I could see)
Step 5. remove the cup holder and install the light ring/lights very similar to the super duty like i showed in my first post.
Step 6. drop down the felt liner under the glove compartment its 2 push pins holding them in. then youll have access to the ambient light in the footwell. install your harness here


Step 7. route your harness along the side of the console

Step 8. hook your cup holders up and reinstall everything.

Verfied the connector has been removed from the harness. the connector you see in the picture on the side of the console is where the light wires would be, position 16 is missing the wire.

 

Just wanted to add a tid bit here. the LED light harness I have listed in the beginning of this thread is the color change LED I turned on the setting in the APIM and checked it.

 

It only changes the cup holder color though? Not the other ambient lighting color?


 

Kind of a side note, but has anyone done anything like this but with the overhead LED light? Wiff had a suburban that had a down light that was great.

 

yeah just the cup holder, nothing special just thought I’d put it out there.

 

Too bad Ford doesn't give people the option in the higher trim levels for the color changing lights in the Super Duty. Not a big deal, but our 2018 Expedition has the color changing interior LED's and our kids really enjoy the feature.

 

It shoulda been an option if you were buying ambient lighting period. I have debated on swapping all mine to color, I dont care about it but my son likes it.
