Yes, I have them, but I don’t like them at all. The upper ones, I mean. As soon as I installed them several years back, I decided to search for an NOS set, with no luck, even to the present day. I came close once.
Recently, I got an electronic flyer from SMS Auto Fabrics, saying I was almost out of time if wanting to order any door panels, they were backed-up , and wouldn’t be taking new orders for a long while -over a year - and I best order now if I want any. Included in the ad was a photo of the interior of a Slick, and I called them to verify they could actually make them for our trucks. Yes they could, they sent me a few samples for approval, and I will see in a few weeks if they are up to snuff for 395.00 a pair. They don’t come with the clips, so I’ll need to buy some from Melvin’s, I guess. The cost is high for the panels, , but what are you gonna do? I also plan on buying extra of the same vinyl to make the zipper pockets that match. I’ll buy a set of the the re-popped Bob Drake pockets with trims, and pay a local upholsterer to re-do them using the correct vinyl.SMS did the factory correct (embossed) seat cover for my truck, and I was very happy with that.
Anyway, that is just one more option available if you like em stock, and hate those ABS things as I do.
I cannot find any pictures of those on their website... Does that include the metal trim? Share a shot if you have one. Interested. Thanks
I do not think it is listed, or I would have found it. The email promotion I had from them was the first time I was aware they could make them, or I’d have already bought them.
Trim is not included, nor are the clips to attach to the doors. I can post a photo or two when mine arrives.
Also, I snuck in after their deadline ( Labor Day weekend) since I had been in contact regarding samples. As stated, they said at least a year to start taking orders for them again. Hard to believe, maybe they can be persuaded, though.
Great, Thanks. My '64 F250 was a standard cab.. Someday I may dress it up and go with the stock looking panels. Fight now I am focused on my Uni and will probably do something custom in there. Thanks for the info.
I saw the prices for upper door panels, and decided I will make my own when I get to that point.
A piece of "Masonite" cut using the old panel as a template, a layer of 1/4" foam, and mexican blanket cloth to match what I'll do on my bench seat. Glue/Staple the edges to the back side. Probably be all in for about $50
This is the photo SMS sent me, to verify which type door panels I wanted. Not sure where they stole, I mean borrowed the photo from, maybe a fellow FTE member? A very nice looking Ranger.
