Connected Navigation Solicitation

Received my first solicitation from Ford to "renew" my subscription.
$80 + tax a year, $85.28 total.
I guess Ford doesn't make any deals on this like siriusxm?

I like that it has nationwide weather radar, and constantly updated maps with traffic.

The info in the solicitation also says the maps work offline, but as I recall I have lost the maps when I lost the connection, so I may have to call and question that.

I'm interested to know if they add towing/trailer routes to the navigation. I would probably sign up, if it were included.

I haven't heard of that being a feature in the Ford navigation, but it would be handy. Out here in the west, some of the routes that Google Maps chooses are absolutely nuts. Any time I have a doubt about it, I fire up the Ford navigation to double check. A trip a couple months ago I failed to double check and it cost me three hours.

Tell them you'll renew when it's free, and better than google maps. Mine (truck NAV) still can't find it's *** with both hands.

I'm still confused on this subject. If I subscribe to SiriusXM with traffic, will the factory nav work (once trail ends of course)?

Doesn't have anything to do with it.
When the trial ends, all you get from the nav screen is a tracking map, just follows your truck as you travel, no nav.

It is better than google maps, IMO.
Takes me 20 minutes on my home pc to get a google map route that is acceptable for my purposes, then I have to send that to my phone before I can use it in my truck.

I believe it comes on the F-150 navigation. The hope is that they eventually roll it out to the super duty's with an update.

I guess this is so absurd I just can’t believe it. Thanks for clarifying!

With siriusXM if they send you an offer you can call and negotiate with them. I was able to get XM on my 19 for 5$/month no traffic or anything just sat radio.

So far I'm not sold on the Connected Nav. We were heading out to a local Spirit Halloween store last weekend and the Connected Nav gave a different location than Google Maps. We went with Google Maps through Android Auto and it took us right to the Spirit Halloween store. We had also noted that Connected Nav was given us a different route to our karate school than Google Maps was giving. Realized yesterday that Connected Nav was giving the old address for the school which moved over a year ago.

I get in my truck, plug in my phone, and tell the Nav (w/ Android Auto) 'Navigate to 123 Main Street, Sometown' or 'navigate to Autozone' and it finds a route in a few seconds, plotting it on Google Maps or Waze (whatever I have selected). If I have saved locations in Google Maps, I can navigate to them by name ('Home', 'Work', etc...). Granted, I need a data signal, but it's quick.

I don't use nav for short trips, for long trips I don't like the routes google maps comes up with, plus I often need to set way points off route, and it's a royal PITA to do in google maps.

It's not really absurd. Ford Navigation and Sirius/XM are two totally different items. Just because they come on the same radio doesn't mean anything. It's the same way on my Dodge Charger.

No, but it IS absurd that they had a built-in navigation, and they're going to subscription-based that doesn't always work. If I'm paying for the equipment up front then it should be mine forever without having to pay extra for it.
