Hello all. I am looking for some direction. Fuse 17 keeps blowing in my 97 F250HD 7.3L. There's no consistency with it either, sometimes it blows within minutes and others it'll last days or weeks. It's been doing this for about 2 years now and I cannot find the issue. When it is blown I have no gauges others than the speedo, no buzzer, and none of the warning lamps work other than the Batt light. This includes the wait to start light, but I can hear the glow plug solenoid engage so I know they are working. Any thoughts? I tried searching for this but have had no success, if anyone can show me a thread about it I would appreciate it.
Sounds like you have an intermittent short. I had this happen to me when my speedo kept dropping out blowing a fuse. Sometimes it did it other times it didn't. Turned out to have a corroded door switch in passenger front so whenever the door was opened it shorted. Found it by breaking a bad fuse apart and sticking the leads into the fuse panel then carefully connecting the fuse leads together with a test light. Then I went around the truck actuating all the doors, windows, switches, and what not till the test light got bright. Hopefully this helps. Good luck!
