Trucks in Texas
New to the site. I own a 1997 F350 2WD SRW crew cab long bed (7.3L Powerstroke) that I have owned for 16 years. It had 184K miles when I bought it and now has 358K and still running strong. I have a 2004 F250 2WD SRW Extended cab long bed (6.0L Powerstroke) that I recently picked up a few months back (267K miles). Shortly after I got it it had the notorious EGR cooler crap out on it. Never worked on a 6.0 before this one. Always hearing the horror stories of a 6.0L I was apprehensive about working on it to fix it. After I was done, I have no problem diving back into working on it. Hell, I even took the turbo apart and inspected plus cleaned the unison ring. I didn't even know what a unison ring was or even what it did before working on it. Cool function! Head studs are next. Torque to yield bolts on a turbo diesel is really not a bright idea... But I think it was by design by the manufacturer to keep people from hot rodding them without consequence. You know Job security.
In the past I've had a 1997 F150 (4.2L good fuel mileage), and my first truck I ever bought was a new 1995 F150 (5.8L) single cab long bed. So I have not owned other brand trucks, frankly not interested. These do everything I need them to do. And I take care of them when they need attention. I am having a problem with another F250 I am working on for someone else, but that is for another thread... Thanks for your time.
