I followed suggestions/ideas from a couple of sources and changed my front axle grease on the 14 F150 by drill, drain and tap method. was easy. worst part was right as I was ready to start the project and laying out tools was the realization that the brass plug I bought {would have preferred steel but none local} was a odd size at 7mm which I didn't have and couldn't find local {allen wrench} finally pilfered one from my boy and all went well. kind of a switch me pilfering tools from him!
it would work on the rear but a little different animal being cast iron. to me it's easy enough to drop cover. it's well worth it to be able to clean it out and look things over. the front end gets so much less use {on most} that I'm willing to fore go the cleaning and inspection. Jim
