P0316 only
I've searched the site without much resolution. I have a 2005 F250,5.4,78k miles, original owner. Most of it's life has been spent surf fishing or pulling a bass boat. Recently, we purchased a 7x14 cargo trailer and it pulled great the first few trips (8 hours total). One day it just didn't feel right, almost like a miss or the trailer jerking. Without the trailer, it was very hard to notice and I thought maybe I was concentrating on it too much. I even had someone else drive it and they said it just felt like the trailer. But I knew that it wasn't like that on the first few trips or pulling the bass boat (before I sold it). Well, today at startup, i get the P0316. The problem is there was no cylinder code to go along with it. Everything I search says there is normally an additional code to go along with the P0316. I cleared the code and started several times. No codes returned. Anyone had issues with a P0316 code only? I hope this is my problem and I can get it narrowed down, without replacing all of the COPs. Motorcraft is proud of theirs.

Camshaft position sensor fault, or, if you cleared the code and it does not come back, it could have been a tank of bad gas, or a little dirt in one of the fuel injectors.
Check for bad wires to the camshaft sensor, and for vacuum leaks as well.
