Hey everyone. I am new to this forum. Hopefully I'm in the right spot. I'm struggling with the brakes on my f250 5.4...I have had problems with the brakes dragging on me on and off for about 6 months. Very frustrating. Long story short I have replaced all rotors, pads, calipers and hoses. Just took it for a ride tonight and I could feel what appeared to be the rears dragging. I pumped the heck out of the brake pedal and after a bit it freed up. Can someone please tell me why in the heck they are still dragging? Any help would be appreciated. Adam.
Take it for a ride somewhere where you don't have to use the brakes....really try not to use them...Drive around for a while and coast to a stop. Get out and feel each corner to see if one is hotter .. They all should be fairly cool..
Its important to know which brakes may be dragging....or if you have an infrared temp gizmo...
I used a power stop kit on my 2002 6.8 F250 and replaced the soft lines with Crown Teflon. Stops perfectly even when I'm stupid and running 28k gvwr with my 5 ton gooseneck dump trailer overloaded with 3/4 minus.
Make sure you grease the slide pin bolts...antiseize works good...and make sure all the retaining clips and springs are in the right spots.
