1972 F250 project

Hello all,
I am in the process of restoring this 72 F250 I bought. I noticed the aftermarket lever that I was not sure what it does. When driving I tried pulling the lever and noticed it did not seem to do anything. I traced the lining to the master cylinder brake housing. I was curious if anyone has seen this and if it is safe to delete it from the truck. Thank you for your help!

It is an aftermarket trailer brake controller. You can delete it if you wish.

Looks to be a trailer brake controller/switch.
Safe to remove.
