Ordered the following
- 22 F250 Carbonized gray 7.3 with non-limited 3.55
- Lariat Ultimate
- Black appearance
- Ultimate Tow
- Adaptive Cruise
Forgot to add the heated steering wheel and plan to call the dealer when they are open to change my order to put that in, but figured I would ask if anyone else had any reccomendations on anything I have before it’s finalized? I’m on the fence for the gears as I do tow but most of my driving is highway, I travel up the turnpike for work (really wanted tremor but figured that was overkill). Most of what I tow is air compressors, work trailers, etc. Mostly driving on the turnpike and highway for work and such. Should I go for the electronic 3.55? Or something else? Tire reccomendations? Or are stock good. Anything you guys have as ideas let me know. Thanks for the help!
The idea behind ordering a truck is to get what YOU want. If it were MY truck, it would be completely different. So this is kind of a strange question....
I don’t think it’s strange, just may have worded it incorrectly as I have not had a f250 previously and am asking advice from those that have 250’s on features they have found useful that I can either add or change in the truck I order.
Did you order 4x4? Maybe I missed that, bit you said you had wanted a Tremor. I would ad the FX4 package, because its cheap and includes some goodies. Do you plan to camp or hunt in it?

My bad! Forgot to list that, did have that added. In terms of what the truck is for it’s 80% work truck/daily driver, other features are nice and I do plan to camp/take through fields and dirt roads and stuff but I can’t imagine doing anything like rock climbing or anything with it. Thanks for the help!
OK... I have owned a lot of trucks. I wouldn't order a Lariat Ultimate because I do not like that much complexity in a truck. I wouldn't order the black appearance because I do not like that look, I wouldn't order the ultimate tow because I think all of those electronics are a waste, I definitely wouldn't order adaptive cruise because at no time do I want the truck paying attention to the driving I should be engaged in. I think the 7.3 and 3.55 gears will work fine, I would never pass on the additional traction of the selectable locker though. The AT tires give you more rated capacity and the 275/65-18s look pretty small.
Now if you want a luxury car dressed in a truck body for running up and down the highway doing light towing, your build looks fine. You could probably accomplish the same in an F150 which will be even more comfortable.

Appreciate the tips, I currently have a 2015 f150 platinum and find the power a bit lacking. Definitely like the more comfortable ride and since this will be my work/daily driver I want some of the features that may not be used if it was purely for towing. Thanks man!
I'd definitely want LED lighting. So, so much better than conventional halogen bulbs.
Also, does Lariat come with the 360 camera system or do you need trailer backup assist to get that? I can back up a trailer, but having the 360 cams for parking in tight spots, backing right up to the edge of something, etc is very handy.

I think the LED lighting comes with the black appearance package and the 360 cameras are the ultimate tow. I agree that they are very awesome when trying to park.
People have different uses for their trucks but it'd be easier for me to rationalize getting a 2wd than an open diff. If you're only going to have 2 wheels powered you might as well save yourself 3 grand and keep them on the same axle.
My wife insisted on adding three things to my order (that I didn’t want).
1. Adaptive cruise: I thought it was useless and a waste of money, but it turns out that I actually use it. Not necessarily on the interstate, but I find it useful when you’re stuck behind cars on two lane roads. I also think it could be helpful in low visibility situations like rain or fog.
2. Pro trailer tow: She thinks she will use this to back trailers, but the reality is, she will never need to back a trailer. I wanted the 360 cameras, but not the stupid trailer backing ****. If she hadn’t insisted, I would’ve left it off, but I’m glad I have it for the cameras.
3. Ultimate package: I was just going to get the value package, but she insisted on getting push button start and the tailgate step. I don’t use the tailgate step but I’m coming around on the push button start. I do wish I had a regular (not electric) manual tailgate latch. In the end I don’t regret the Ultimate package
Since she was onboard with the purchase, I went along with the things she wanted to add, except I had to talk her down from the Limited because I really don’t want a moon roof.
I probably wouldn’t buy one of these trucks without the electronic locking differential. It’s very useful in sand and wet grass type situations, due to trucks being light in the rear.
I really like the carbonized gray. I went back and forth between that and the star white that I ended up with.

That is correct. The FX4 pkg was suggested earlier, I would suggest looking at what that actually consists of before adding it. Surprising how many people have a misconception of what it does and does not include. The tires that will come on the truck (Michelin LTX AT2) are not bad for what your use will be. I don't own a 7.3l truck but from reading most seem to go with the 4.30 ratio for heavier towing, and 3.73 otherwise. I haven't noticed 3.55 being talked about much with a gas engine. Either way I would go with a locking rear end.

Totally agree. Will never own another vehicle without adaptive cruise. It is what cruise control should be. I find it to be safer because it makes me resist the temptation to get too close to a vehicle in the right lane when passing in order to avoid tapping the brake and having to restart cruise with the buttons. It is also nice for speed up slow down highway traffic because it maintains a safe distance between the car in front of you, which I tend to resist doing because mentally I think they're going to speed back up. The slightly decreased chance of an avoidable accident is completely worth it to me. Also makes long drives less mentally tiring.
Get a locking differential.
Something I wanted on my old Ranger and my F250.
Recently orders an F150, it was a must have for me.
I am not up to date on the current Super duty’s, but I’d get the largest fuel tank available.
