This probably belongs in the marketplace...but since it's 300L6 I hope to get away with asking.
I just completed the install of a new(er) engine in my '84 F150, and the donor engine came from an '86. I REALLY like the valve cover-it's got the PVC fitting at the rear, a PVC hose fitting at the front, and an oil filler at the very front. Trouble is, it's pretty rusty-as was the whole engine when I got it.
Anyone have another valve cover in nice shape they'd part with?
And yes, the new(er) engine runs great. I replaced main/rod bearings, oil pump/pickup screen, installed a Schneider cam and lifters, Cloyes timing set, every gasket and seal, clutch/flywheel, damper...It's much better than the old one.
Be aware that the EFI valve covers use smaller metric bolts and thus the cover will need drilling to use on your earlier carbed head, as will the silicone gasket.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation = PCV
Polyvinyl Chloride = PVC.

The one from the '86 engine use smaller, 7/16" bolts (or that's the size of socket I used to install the VC) and after I ground off the little **** on the sealing surface, the silicone gasket fit perfectly. Not sure why it worked but it did. Maybe someone swapped out the head at some point?
Sure runs good, though.
I CAN use the VC I have, but if I can get a nice one, I will.
