Question 93 f150 4x4 probs

this is a damn useful website..i gotta give props
i have a pretty good 93 f150 4x4.
when in 4x4, it clicks like its binding or loosing grip, its actually more like a small boom. the hubs seemed alright
im starting to lean to the transfer case as culprit..any ideas??
thanks

does the clicking and binding noise come from the front (hub /driveshaft area) or the mid (transfer case). it sounds like the tansfer case though, pop the sucker outta there and take it apart to see how she looks, i had to do mine a month ago because of some drunken 4x4ing abuse and just had to pop a guide plate back into place, its actually pretty simple in there.

good luck

check all your front u joints for play as well, the 1 on the drive shaft and the 3 in your front axle.

hey thanks for the tips. im almost positive that its actually the drivers side hub cuz when i engage the hubs turn the front driveshaft by hand(transfer in nuetral), the axle spins on that side as if the hub was stuck in nuetral. for some reason this doesnt happen in reverse....freaky. i still havent taken it apart though, lack of time and ambition
