im installing my sisters old kenwood in here new 91 EB explorer. I pulled out the stock stereo and i notice that the wires were different theres on normal rectangle harness and a square gray wired harness. What does this mean and what adapters do i nee to hook up this kenwood?
When i put in my blaupunkt cd player, i pulled out the factory and i had what you described, one gray wire harness, and one black one i think. One goes to the speakers and the other is for the power. I got mine for xmas, and as usual i couldnt wait until the next day to go and buy a adapter, so i simply pulled the tops off of the factory wireing harness, and pulled the lables off of them. Then i took the wires from the blaupunkt harness and matched them up with the ones on the factory harness, for example, the factory harness label had org/blk-front right speaker, so i found the orange wire with the black stripe and matched it up with the front right output wire on the blaupunkt.
Yes, there is for around $5 at Walmart it has exelent instructions. Pulling off the factory harness is a bad idea, if you want to take that CD player out in a few years it's a huge pain to disconnect all those wires. Also check out here for all instructions and wiring diagrams.
