Based on the window sticker they tell you that Ford gets vehicle data and diagnostic data from the Ford Connect software. Anyone know what data Ford collects?
This is speculation, but most of the data is likely vehicle telemetry. Doubt there is anything personally identifiable. Wonder if Ford would disclose the actual contents.
Information From Your Vehicle. Ford and Lincoln vehicles have systems that record data about how the vehicle is performing, how it is driven, where it is located, and the environment in which it is driven. Some vehicles have connectivity features that send connected vehicle information to Ford to enable connected services.
If your vehicle does not have connectivity features (or does not have them enabled), data is stored in the vehicle and not accessible to Ford or others without physical access to the vehicle. We may receive the following information from your vehicle at service visits,
· Vehicle Data: Information about the vehicle, its components, and parts, including their status and performance and diagnostics of vehicle systems (e.g., VIN, hardware model and part numbers, odometer, tire pressure, fuel and fluid levels, battery and lock status, trouble codes, warning indicators and alerts) and other information about how the vehicle is performing.
If you have a connected vehicle or use connected vehicle services, we may receive Vehicle Dataand additional categories of Connected Vehicle Information including Vehicle Location, Driving Data, Media Analytics, and Vehicle Analytics with Media Analytics. See the Connected Vehicle Privacy section, and your owner’s manual, for additional information

Disconnected my F350 modem. If Ford wants my data, they can pay me... Lost no functions that I care about and since I don't have a cell, there is no data about me going to anyone. Bad enough they have data from a specific timeframe stored in the truck's computers.

Everything... just like everything else now days. I'd bet that there is not truly any "disconnecting" either. Vehicles today are way to smart to simply be "disconnected."

How? I'm interested in disconnecting as well. I don't like the idea that Spyware or viruses can be uploaded into my truck. And before I get a lot of "what about your cellphone?" responses, If my cell is hacked then I don't mind turning it into a paperweight, not true with my truck. I also don't believe that computer techs who work for big companies have the consumers best interests in mind.
I have an extended warranty and was talking to the service manager on the phone as he was looking up my warranty to see if something was covered, he mentioned how I had 28% oil life left.

Modem (TCU) is behind the rear right passenger seat. Just disconnect the bigger connector to the modem. Smaller is to the antenna. Did the same on my Ford Escape. Be aware that Ford Pass doesn't work any longer as it can't collect data or communicate with your vehicle. There was a thread on this - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...g-diagram.html
While I do agree with you, can we please pull this thread back to Super Duty related content?
This forum doesn't need to go down that rabbit hole.
It was meant to be a light-hearted poke but I understand that's a hard thing to convey over the internet. I agree, we want to focus on these awesome trucks and not ideological differences of opinion.
With that said, @keizer has a great suggestion in how to disconnect the modem. Appears to only affect the elements of the truck that depend on the modem (like FordPass remote start).
