truck bed

Well I got the bed painted and it came out good, but not great. I did it the backyard, so I was at the mercy of the weather and my learning curve. One thing is for sure I am too old for painting something as big as a truck bed, plus all the sanding and knee squats flared up a few joints, bad.

I painted the bed red and plan to do the white later, but the way I physical feel it might be a red truck. I will see in the spring. Anyways, now I plan to lift the cab and adjust the front cab mounts, so I can get the radiator support and fenders to line up better.

I am very grateful for the help on the forum because I could not wrap my mind around why this stuff would not fit after I took it apart. You guys knew the cab had settled and I could not see it. I plan to try and leave the back cab bolts in place and lift both side of the front-- one at a time-- and block it a little high--and then let the cab kinda float as I try and fit the front. Does that sound like it would work? I will probably need to cut the cab mount bolts out and add shims, pads, and maybe

cab mounts.

Thanks Steve

Steve, looks like you are pretty well invested in this truck, so let's do it right. IF your steel is solid at the cab mounts, replace all the rubber at the same time. Although it seems like a lot for what you get, the cab mounts kit is only $100, get the one for the core support too, for another $70 I think. You will have to remove or lift the fuel tank (in cab) to get to the back ones but you need to get the cab settled where it's going to live from now on before you try to align fenders and bed. Otherwise, you will forever be adjusting.

When I did my mounts, I took the two extra washers that the kit says are for later model trucks and put them between the rubber mount and the cab in the back corners. The extra 1/8" really makes it sit better, subtly. HTH.
