Hello was hoping for some opinions on a 1181 lance,
my parents have a 2008 lance 1181 and they are looking to upgrade and I could get the camper for a great price. The problem is a I have a 2022 f350 on order. Is there a way to carry that camper on a srw? Was thinking timbrens and top and bottom stable loads. Any opinions and thoughts appreciated.

It would be helpful to know more about your new truck, as engine, drive train, cab, bed, and wheels and tires affect GVWR and related base model payload. Trim level upgrades and other options further impact payload.
The “dry weight” spec for an 2008 1181 is 3650 lbs. Factory options (i.e., A/C, microwave, generator, awnings, etc.), dealer installed items (batteries, propane, tie downs, turnbuckles, tie-downs, bed mat), water (48 gallons = ~400 lbs.), consumables, supplies, and personal gear will probably add up perhaps 1,300 lbs., give or take. Add 350 lbs. for two people in the truck cab, and the total payload will likely exceed 5300 lbs.
There’s no new F-350 SRW rated to handle a load like that. Weak links include the rear spring packs, the wheels, and the tires.
I submit the optioned and loaded 1181 takes you into dually territory.
You "Can" carry it on an SRW, I have seen it done all the time. But you shouldn't as you will be overweight, the 1181 is easily 5000 lbs ready to go. My friend carries his 2011 1181 on a 3500 SRW but he doesn't go very far with it, if you are going to be doing any sort of trips you will want a DRW, especially if you have family onboard.
Yeah, get a DRW for that, or get a smaller camper.
With a slide-in besides the ratings etc., it's a good idea to have a little margin over the rear axle.
Also, keep in mind all we've talked about so far is straight up and down weight. Keep stability in mind also. Especially with a slide-in with slides, all that extra weight of the slides is up high. Crosswinds, oncoming semis, curvy roads, etc.

Having run big TC on a F 350 SRW I went with UPPER Stableloads, Hellwig Big Wig rear sway bar and HD Shocks.
That was all I needed for my 5550 lb of Arctic Fox 1150.
I would take a pass on the LOWER Stableloads, they place way to much stress on the Lower spring pac. Remember the F 350 most likely has 4 spring pacs at the rear axle. 2 Overload and 2 lower spring pacs. Look at the lower spring, thick, short, flat and stubby, meant to support the springs above it in the lower spring pac...allow it to do it job, it does it well.
Be sure to inspect you rear springs to see if you 2 only or 4. Lot depends upon your GVWR rating
I think putting too large a camper on a SRW is analogous to having a figure skater perform while holding a bowling ball overhead.
Steve
Steve, not sure about that, but more like Russian Roulette maybe, just spinning the cylinder and waiting on the day the bullet comes out.
I have driven ( NOT by choice) a 5300 lb Truck Camper on a F 350 SRW from Phoenix to San Antonio Tx, like I said not by choice but I had to or lose $10,000 bucks. It had to be picked at the dealer. It was SCARY drive only because I knew I was operating beyond my safety envelope.
NOTE that Lance is pushing it as a F 350 dually. YEA, that F 350 is playing at the very top of its game and in order to carry the full load it will take mods to make it happen, UNLIKE my F 450 that carries 5990 lbs and pulls a trailer mod free, box stock OEM, perfectly level! CAT scale 20,460 lbs
Where we are right now with my wife telling me what we needed last night is we have started to shop Host, although I think, if we go that route, we would go Rainer. I have concluded if we go back to a dually, we would simply go with a f450 as I really can’t make an argument for an F350. Not rushing it as our rig is still in excellent shape and it is always fun looking.
I love everything about the 450's but the 19.5" tires, I would have to convert back to regular tires so I can air them down, either that or go to super singles.
