EFI Heads

I'm doing a little research for my future 460 project, and have been hearing about EFI heads being used by some people in my area. Word on the street is they have better port velocity than the D3VE heads. Supposedly, they are running a Weiand intake to make it work.

I am trying to cost effectively choose heads. Whether I choose EFI heads or the D3VE's, they will have to be degreased, magnafluxed, etc. I don't know if it's worth the extra expense of buying different heads if the D3VE's can be flowed out to match them.

The EFI heads have greater port velocity not greater flow volume(CFM).

Higher port velocity helps low end torque and gas milage but hurts high RPM performance. In general the opposite is true for big port heads.

Which is better depends on what you are building your motor for.

Don't know what your application will be.

The EFI heads can only be used with an EFI intake. The D3's with a carbureted intake.

I do know of a few EFI heads on race motors. And by the posters name, a guy used to or still may run them who works at "Duthler". They are more than just a bolt-on and go, but work very good when worked over.
