I've only checked the dash milage a couple times with a calculator and paper it was almost exactly on. That being said my 21 stock cclb dually 6.7 only gets 18 at best on the highway doing 75 and usually it's in the low to mid 17 range. I can get 20 or even 21 but I gotta be doing 55 and there better not be many stops. I still think 17 for a 1 ton dually is pretty amazing, and 20 doing 80 in any truck is crazy good. Hoping I can get closer to that as I get it more broke in.
This is prevalent on most forums & social media. It’s a minor annoyance but weed out the inaccurate information & interact with the helpful accurate information.
The OP has a brick on wheels and got good MPG. Some say for not long enough, some say the measurement is wrong, and some say it is all BS because I don't get that MPG.
I’m at 1500 miles - 6.7. I did a full tank compare last week. Truck dash showed a tick over 17mpg, and my calculated MPG was at 16.5. Mix of backroad / city / State highways.

I guess there is some background to this? The title of "20.1 mpg" and then saying "Too many know it all's", there has to be something else to this?
Either way who cares, MPG is something that has so many variables that it's not worth concerning yourself with.
I get 15.8 to 16.3 25K miles on the odo. I drive it like I stole it. I have 15 cases of tools, saws and lumber in the 8’ bed and 295 65 20 open country tires. I didn’t buy it for the mpg I bought it to haul my 30’ TT and for all my tools and crap. Towing I get 10-11mpg I can live with that.
My other work truck is a 2019 Silverado CCSB gasser it gets 21mpg but it’s a POS misses shifts, slams into gear when cold, dealer says it’s normal for the 8 speed automatic. Turning that pile back into my company in October.
