need more help on headlights please

hi all another question. thanks in advance. I purchased an o2 excursion. the original owner did a half *** job on the headlights. The y are being held in with one clamp on the headlight. I believe he installed 2006-7 headlights which do not fit correctly. I am replacing them with the 2 piece parking light and headlight like original. The 2 parking light screws on each side are missing. Can anyone tell me the correct size screws to use to replace the parking lights please

Don't know the size, but im sure someone will chime in, on another note those are 05+ lights, they usually work better than the stock 99-04 lights, im sorry your PO did a crappy job swapping them. Most likely all you need to make them fit properly is the header panel from an 05-07, but ill let others chime in who have done this swap properly.

They look like aftermarket lights and probably required that the header panel was modified to fit them. If you are planning to install the original lights you might have to replace the header panel because the anchor points for the original ones were probably removed.

I just purchased a set off of eBay, they come with two separate pieces on each side, the parking brake assembly, and the headlight itself. Looks much much better

Hi Jeff,

Welcome to FTE!

I've got a 2000 Ex and the headlights had yellowed horribly. I kinda like the all-stock look so I went with something that looked like original equipment, but the lens was made out of modern materials. They're clearer than the originals and light up the road just fine.

When you get it done, please do yourself a favor and install a set of LEDs. I installed these is 2019 and have been perfect! I also have a set in my wife's trailblazer and couldn't be happier! Much better visibility at night, and the projection down the road is amazing! Alot of other guys here use the same ones and are as happy as I am. Best $35 I've spent on my Excursion. I have a 2003 BTW.

I have these in my fog lamps, and they are a perfect match. Same color as the headlights. I use my fogs all th time when headlights are on, unless they are on brights obviously. When the brights are on those Beamtechs light up WAY down the road!

Dont use the LED in reflectors housing, it is not only illegal; it is immoral. They blind other drivers and why they are not DOT approved. Here a good read on the subject Link

Actually @Tunafish389 there are no LED Headlight replacement lamps that meet Federal Safety Standards because the standards have not been updated and adjusted for newer technology in ages, and authorities are aware of this, as long as you are not the guy rocking 150W bulbs and trying to be visible from the International Space Station, they do not enforce it.

Underbody neon lighting is illegal, i ran Green and Red on my racecar on city streets for years and I only got pulled over once, and the Officer told me i had an out headlight, and that my underbody lights were technically illegal, but that they dont really ticket for them unless they are obnoxious, but that he couldn't promise other officers wouldn't. I was friendly to him, he was with me, and there was no ticket.

I have LED Headlights in EVERY vehicle in my signature, and have had in everything except the Excursion for years, the Excursion is newer to me, only had it for a short while, but i put them in the third week i had it. AND guess what.

I have never been pulled over for headlights, other than when i had one burned out. The Sherrifs Deputies out here where i live, **** we end up on the side of the road periodically talking about cars, and I usually end up showing them my engines and such. Pinal County Sheriffs Dept rocks. I have gotten to know most of the deputies out here and I'll see them camped out in a side road or something and pull up side by side and BS for 20 minutes unless a significant speeder goes past in front of them, then its, Gotta go, catch a next time and they jump back to their duty. They don't mess with you unless your being really ignorant, 5 over is no sweat, 10 is usually a warning unless its a 25 zone or such, 15+ yea your likely getting a ticket unless its the highway, out in the middle of BFE nowhere and no one else around in which it falls back to a warning usually as long as you are kind and professional, and HONEST with the Officer, If you immediately become a D***** Bag, argue with them, pull that sovereign citizen crap, or otherwise give them an attitude for doing their job, Yea, i guarantee they are NOT going to give you a warning, and you have noone to blame but YOURSELF. It isn't the cops fault that you are an idiot and don't want to be civil and polite, and he is the one who has the option to stick his neck out to give you a warning, Do you think he will stick his neck out for someone who ridicules him, his dept, his profession, or generally acts like he is the enemy, yea me neither.

Be the cops friend, and it will make it a lot harder for him to write out that paper, and even if he does, he will likely cut you a break on it. Besides the ones out here where I live I work with a lot of LEO's and there is a common theme. Bad people treat cops like they are the enemy all day long, If you as a good person also treat the cop like the enemy, what category is he likely to assume you to be in, and who controls that perception, YOU DO. LEO's are human beings, doing a dangerous job, and getting treated like criminals themselves a lot of the time by the people they have to deal with, its a problem that goes full circle unless you as the person they are stopping/meeting prevents it from starting.

EDIT: And yes there are "bad apples" in every group, lemons per se, but even if you are dealt a lemon cop, play nice, drink that **** with a straight, polite, professional face, smile, and then after its all done, write it down while its fresh in memory, and take it to his CO, who has the power to do something about it. If you are one of those people who wants to record the interaction with the cop, thats fine, DO NOT wave the camera in their face, or announce to them how busted they are going to be, or be stupid in some other way, be polite, and nice, even if they are not, because when the video does come out, remember that you are in it too, and if you are acting like a complete moron waving the camera at the cop, yelling like a donkey, and making a fool of yourself, NO-ONE including me, will take your complaint seriously, stick the camera somewhere it can see the whole thing transpire, and don't point out that its there. This is a double reason, because if you do somehow end up facing a bad cop, and you stupidly TELL him you are recording, do you really think he won't get rid of your camera or make sure it gets dropped and stepped on, or lost forever.... Use some common sense.

I just dont think recommending an illegal, potentially dangerous product is a good idea. There are halogen bulbs that gives plenty light that are designed for a stock headlight. I run Phillips WhiteVision and never thought i need more light. I drive on a two lane highway everynite and i know the blinding effect of LED in reflectors.. Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should.

Sorry i dont mean to take away from the issue of the headlight bracket missing or how to put the OEM back in but someone has to stand up when these dangers are brought up.

Halogen bulbs burn far hotter, pull a heck of a lot more wattage through the wiring, and start fires if they make contact with anything remotely flammable. They usually don't but come on dude, you want to bring danger into this now because you can't stand not being right on something, you seem like some kind of social justice warrior or something.

Don't call something a danger issue when you know it is not. It is far more dangerous to be the car running dim headlights, and/or doing at the speed limit or under when everyone else is going equal or over flying up behind you.

Yep you are right with the known halogen bulb fires. Or maybe you just don't care about other people and trying to justify your reasoning to blind everyone.. You are the man.. You have bright lights that are cool good job.. Now you can be awesome..

If i had HIDs, you might make that argument, but i suspect you don't know an HID from an LED, HIDs are the ones you see coming from "miles" away, and actually hurt the eyes even from far away, the ones that come on some cars stock are dialed back, and angled down more, but the aftermarket HIDs, that is what you think you are talking about when you think of LEDs, Apple's and tomatoes dude. Good Quality properly picked LED lights never hurt no one.

HIDs are the ones California outright banned in the aftermarket. You can only use them if they are the factory OEMs that the Mfgr ensured are angled properly down, and below the state guidline output which is pretty strictly set.

For an example, All Tesla cars have LED Reflector housing headlights..... From the factory, they have never blinded me....

Are you sure your not talking about HIDs being in Projector lenses, now that would be un-godly.

HIDs are produced not by any filament, but by an actual plasma arc held in place between two Tungsten electrodes, they are insane. Essentially a perpetual bolt of lightning in a tube. Notably these are the same tech used in IMAX projectors, they just scaled it down a little to fit cars.
