Favorite window coating?

I've used Rain-X for years and it does a good job while it lasts....but that's usually not very long. Gotta be some better stuff out there these days. I place a premium on long life as I just don't have the time to be detailing my truck very often. I just made an appointment to get ceramic for this reason.

I'm interested in getting a ceramic coat for my truck... not sure where to even start looking though (I know, Google) and honestly afraid of what kind of price tag is associated with a "professional" application... As for the window, I just put RainX in my wiper reservoir and it seems to work fine. I have never "applied" it to my windows, but I am thinking about doing it since I am sure that the truck will come filled with whatever's the cheapest... I love Rain X!

Interesting. I've never put RainX right in the reservoir or even heard of that. Kinda makes sense though.

I was quoted $1300 for a basic paint correction (which is pretty much a good cleaning) and 3 year and Ceramic Coating with Nv Nova Evo Ceramic Coating. Prices went way up with more paint correction. I don't need it to be glossier, I just want it to be easier to clean and harder for bugs to stick.

On the RAM forums, lots of guys reported having pump issues when using the rain-x washer fluid.

I know it's anecdotal (of course so is the reference to the Ram forums) but I've used that fluid in pretty much every car I've ever had and never had an issue.

I've ran this in all of my cars too, but never had any issues... I wonder if they are running the actual Rain X "washer fluid" or the Rain X that is supposed to be sprayed on the window and wiped on...

Same here. Never a failure. I am careful not to mix though. I run the blue WW fluid down then refill with RainX.

I will say that the Rain X washer fluid I posted above has worked well for me for a number of years... however, since I had never applied it to my entire window the water really only beaded up and repelled where my windshield wipers tracked. Honestly though, that has been fine for me, and at less than $3/gallon I wasn't complaining.... But, this will be the first new truck (vehicle actually) that I have ever owned (all the others were my wife's - I have just stuck with the 2008 Chevy Cobalt, lol!) so I may spend a little more time keeping it clean, and I will probably clean the entire windshield with the Rain X.... heck, I'll probably do all the windows! lol...

I like Griots Glass Sealant. Easy on, and a bottle goes a long way.

Can you even get ahold of that stuff?

I use the RainX windshield washer fluid in the tank and apply the RainX treatment every 3-4 months. It keeps the water beading up nicely, I rarely have to use my wipers in the rain.

I was kind of joking for the aviation stuff, but it's real, not marketing hype, for those that might really want the real deal.
