It was a nice day here in the northeast so I thought I'd put a coat of wax on my 3 week old F-250 SD. While applying wax to the dr side door I noticed 2 bolts missing where the fender attaches to the body in behind the door hinges. I started looking around the inner side of the door and found 2 areas one of them down at the lower inner part of the door below the hinges that looks like it was straightend. along the bottom of the door running back to the latch end the metal is all wrinkled. It looks almost like the door was hit and a new outer skin was attached. This sob is supposed to be brand new. Do I have any recourse if the truck was in fact damaged and I was not told before the sale?
Go to the dealership and look at other trucks. If you find no other truck that looks the same, bring in the manager and start discussing the rest. TAKE PICTURES!!!
Don't give up either. After spending a very large chunk of change on a BRAND NEW truck i sure as heck wouldn't. I heard a fair amount of cars get damaged during shipping and they are fixed after they arrive.
It is my understanding (right or wrong) that manufactuers suffer dings, dents, scrathes, etc. on their new vehicles and repair (usually at the factory) them prior to sale. A BMW sales guy even told me that they have a "fixing" facility in Southern California for the cars they import for damage that occurs in oceanic travel. So, I guess the EXTENT of the damage is the million dollar question. You might check other vehicles on the lot for similar damages. Regardless, make them fix the missing components.
