Paint Costs

I have 2 projects that will need new paint, and both will have non-metallic paint colors. I know that I will use urethane, but wonder which approach is the best for overall cost. I recently completed a ss urethane on another rig, but wonder if I might have been better off with a base coat/ clear coat approach. My shop where I paint is not a true paint booth, and it is basically impossible to not have a little dust added to the finish. I just figure on having to color sand and buff whatever finish I use. Is the clear lower in cost than an extra coat of color?

What material costs are typical for a base coat / clear coat job on such as an F1 pickup, versus a single stage approach? I don't plan on anything exotic ..... just good middle of the road paint. The last job cost me $295 for a gallon of red with reducer and hardener, and it was the budget stuff from NAPA. I'm not likely to use that again .... probably will use something from Dupont or PPG. I've heard the PPG stuff is better in cold environments? Is that so?
Anyway.... thanks in advance for ideas on the costs.

That's the best prices that I found on HOK stuff. It can give you an idea plus they also have other paints if you look.
