I have a 2000 7.3 power stroke that won’t start. It cranks but won’t start. I noticed on my last drive home it lost a lot of power and would barley pull itself. I’m needing some advise thanks guys
Need to start by getting the codes..
Get a good scanner like FORScan or FORScan Lite for your phone and the recommended OBD II adapter.
Fill out the sig line and tell us more about the truck as well. How long have you had the truck? Miles?
I will also start by giving you a big item for the older trucks. At about 1/4 tank of fuel if you have not modded the fuel tank or replaced the shower head pickup you may be sucking air into the fuel system or not getting fuel at all. So what is the fuel level????
Where did you get your fuel? Corner stores are not usually the best idea...
My truck had 1/4 tank I filled my tank to little over 1/2 tank with no change. I removed fuel line before fuel pump and ran a hose to 5 gal can no change. New oil change new fuel filter. I rebuilt motor last winter. New low pressure oil pump terminator hpop new valve cover wire harnesses glow plugs never had any issues till all of a sudden ? I did unplug the icp no change . While cranking …. With icp plugged in ipr reads around 79 icp barely gets to 250. If I unplug icp then the ipr goes to 30 and icp goes to 2100. Rpm is 146 to 235 while cranking . I also replaced ipr no change. Any ideas? I’m almost to the point to have to towed somewhere but hate to quit thanks
IPR duty cycle that high with ICP below 500 indicates either a leak or a weak pump. I'm leaning towards leak in the HPOP system. Easiest way is to pull valve covers and crank the engine over while watching the base of the injectors where they go in the head to see if one is leaking. The truck wont even fire the injectors until ICP reached over 500psi.
