I just picked up my super duty this past weekend, my phone connected just fine, answering calls and placing calls no issue. I dont receive an on screen notification when i get a text. I have checked my phone under bluetooth to make sure show notifications is turned on, I have also checked sync 4 settings and all appears correct. I have deleted the phone and readded it twice but it still wont show a notification on the screen that i have a text.

You need to be using Apple Car Play or Android Auto for those additional features to work.
I decided to walk out to my truck and was going to delete the phone and do a master reset on the sync system, before i even got to that i had a pop up that said Ford F-350 saved. then it went to the normal screen. so i did a test text and look what happened.
I have sync 3 that I have updated to 3.4 and it will not only read the text messages it will allow you to view them without being plugged into the USB port.

sync 4 works this way also, mine just wasting working then all the sudden it is
