I used VRoom and it was very easy and painless. They gave me the most for my truck. Whole process took about a week. From pick up of the truck and check in the mail. I had a good experience and would use them again.
Well something is off with them. I just put my info in there for giggles and it said $41,870. I did it twice to be sure. 2019 F250 Lariat Ultimate $61.5k sticker. Only 11,500 miles. Dealers around here are offering $54k sight unseen with no details about the truck. Similar for sale around here are $61-$64k.
I recently sold my old truck this way, but I did not use Vroom. When I first started searching for offers Vroom was offering $3,000.00 more than anyone. I wanted max return like anyone, but I was concerned with the idea that I would send my truck and the signed title to Texas and then wait a few weeks to get paid. Carvana will pick up your vehicle and pay you on the spot, Vroom won't. What if they decided not to buy it? What if they decided to renegotiate after taking possession? How would I make them pay at all? Who would pay the return freight if the deal fell through? I contacted the next highest offer, a local dealer, who first wanted it then called back to say they have too many Ram trucks and can't buy anymore. When I found the new truck I talked to the dealer about trade in. The lease company quoted the dealer $10,000.00 more than my buy out price. I called the lease company and they confirmed the dealer quote, said if they are selling to the dealer they want full retail price. I had to buy out the lease in order to sell the truck. It took almost 2 months to get my title back. By then each original offer was lower and I did not put one additional mile on the truck. Vroom was now in the middle of the pack price wise. I sold to Carmax because they lowered the price the least and they were the high offer. Drove the truck 2 hours to a Carmax store and walked out with a check. Ten miles from the store I cracked the windshield. I was so upset wondering what that will do to the deal. They looked at the ruck and paid the on line quote.
Back in July, Carvana, Carmax and Vroom were all at 42k (within a few hundred $) on my 2020 Tundra. As of last week they're all down to about 38k. Offers from local dealers were 40k and 35k.... I paid 38.5k for the truck two years ago.
Probably going to sell it private party anyway, but it's still fun to check the wholesale prices.
