bluemoose89 on the ricky craven car do they put oil additives in the engine to keep the oil from thinning with the extreme heat they have during those laps on a race or do they run streight off the shelf oil all the time?? im not being sarcastic but what job do you do on the craven car. thanks
form what i know i dont think they have a problem with the oil thinning because the car holds so much oil. the oil system is so big on these cars you wouldnt belive it and its diffrent on every car. i know that my oil tanks hold around 12 quats and with the number 16 lines that run to the oil pump and back hold quite a bit more and the oilpan usually hold around 8 to 10 quats there as well. so with that much oil i wouldnt see any reason for it to have any trouble with thinning. i could be wrong though......i am a fabricator
but each team is diffrent and each car is diffrent so some teams might use additives and some might not. just like superspeedway motors, intermediate motors, and short track motors they are all diffrent and not a single one has the same numbers. its a pretty complicated bussiness
i hope that answered your question without causeing to much confusion. let me know if you have anymore questions
thanks for the come back bluemoose89 and wow i had no idea those cars hold that much oil and all the lines that go with it. that realy explains to me why the oil is running up to par on those 200 mph plus race cars. and for ricky craven car i do root for him by the way...you have a great team this year and wish you guys luck for the next win for the checker flag. thanks for asking if i have any more questions and i will ask you some time
New to the forum, I usually hang out in the 460 area but just poked in and noticed this post. bluemoose89 do you work with Ricky Craven? I grew up in Vt and about 8-9 years ago when I was still pretty young Ricky Craven came to our little 1/4 track out in the middle of nowhere and thanked everyone for the support that helped him succeed. To this day I'm still a fan. If you do work with that team I wish you the best of luck, and if not nevermind it's late and I'm tired.
no problem guys we have a great team as well as a place to work.i have worked in a few shops and this one by far is the best to work in. the equipment is good, people are good, shop layout is great, and its close to the house.for me its a 5 mile round trip to work and back. and of course we have great sponsers that we couldnt ask for more. if you guys want to know anymore i will try and help you out. well time to go to work.
