Im thinking of changing out rearend of my crewcab to a traction-lok. Was wondering if anyone has one and if they like it compared to a limited slip or one wheel wonder??
If I'm not mistaken - Trac-lock is a Ford term and Limited slip is the GM term...
Trac-lock is much better over all as compared to an open differential. Except on ice, where a trac-lock tends to make the rear end go sideways when spinning...
Limited Slip is the Industry term, DanaSpicer
Trak-Lok; Trac-Loc; Traction lock is the Ford term
Posi-lok - GM term
If you drive on dirt roads or on ice a lot, don't put limited slip in a 2wd. They fishtail more and can cause you to lose control. With an open differential, you maintain lateral traction with the wheel that isn't receiving full power.
Well, I happened to part out a truck that had one in it,, and the identical gear ratio that I need, and although I do drive on ice and dirt roads, I think I will still install it., because the times that I may need to have it will out weigh the times of it being fishtaily. ( not a word, dont know how else to put it) Though I am going to put one in my 4x4.
