That's a neat sign, Wayne. Is that in your garage?
Reason I'm checking is I keep my gas leaf blower on the garage floor at the right rear of the truck where the exhaust dps. It is black with soot .

Yes, it is my sign. I had to run out to the shop to snap the pic so I could share. 
Just because your mixture is right doesn't mean you aren't going to get some level of burnt hydrocarbon buildup in the pipes that will get washed out with condensation. Maybe you just need to take longer road trips. Sounds like a good excuse to drive it more if nothing else.
