Locking hubs

Hello everyone, I have a 02 f250 PSD, dana 60 front axle, I'm wondering about the manual locking hubs, I know they have a "off" and "auto" position, my hubs are so old that the writing on them is non existent, I can't tell which position the hubs are in, anybody have any insight on how I can distinguish the positions?

Turn clockwise to put in "Lock" position; counterclockwise for "Auto" position.

There should be a noticeable "click" when you put them in the locked position. Less of a click when they go back to the unlocked position.

Drive on a hard surface with them turned either way...you'll know after that

I wouldn't do this. I have made turns on dry pavement with the hubs locked in and broken U-joints before. It's not a good idea.

Turn the drive shaft to ensure they lock and unlock as designed. The OEM lock outs have plastic internals and require routine maintenance to ensure proper functioning. Many of us elect to go with Mile Markers or Warn premium locking hubs.
