Are there any 5.4L Performance mods that you can recommend that make much of a significant difference in increased performance or drivability / throttle response (other than turbo or sc) ??
I liked the increased throttle response and shift timing along with a slight power boost with the Super Chips Flash Paque 1865 I bought in 2010 and which I've updated as it's ben in use ever since, it gave a slight gas mileage boost too as before then 18.5mpg was about the best, but since then ... 20 mpg is not unusual on the highway. I rarely run it over 65-68 mph on Interstate though, and most of my driving is 55-60 mph. 2007 5.4 SCAB 3.55 rear gear, 275/55-20 OEM tire size.

tbear,
Thanks for the reply, you are appreciated.
Is the Super Chips Flash Paque 1865 still available? Do you have a link for me where l can purchase one?
I recently updated mine using the Spark updater tool on line... but I think they have actually combined some applications and call it a "Flaspaq 1845" now,
but there are still plenty 1865s on the market in inventories, hence "Google".
I accidentally added the "ue" and made it two words ... I'm sorry.
Tuner and maybe a good exhaust for the easy stuff.
I have tried 2 different cold air intakes and not found they made a bit of difference in seat of the pants or in intake temps. I have monitored the intake air temps with an OBD scanner and didn't notice a real difference from what I got out of the stock intake system that feeds from the inner fender. performance may have been improved a minuscule amount due to the lightening of my wallet though.
Tune, exhaust about all you can do without cracking open the engine. Mixed bag reviews of doing throttle body, "cold" air intake, etc. Of course, see what axle gears you have and consider changing for better towing/performance. I say that if you get to the point of needing a full timing job, why not stick better cams in?
I have done quite a few mods, such as full custom exhaust with no cats, dual electric fans, 80mm throttle body, ceramic coated D port headers, cold air intake and custom dyno tune and never noticed "much" difference other than throttle response and better fuel economy. I then fit a STS turbo kit on it and now it has a very noticeable difference when the boost builds but only about 110 rwhp over pre turbo that's with all the other mods.
