Everyone has biases and experiences but looking for who's using what on our trucks. I had Toyo tires for a long time then switched to BF Goodrich for a "deal". I will spare my life altering experience with those "deals" tires as I will not buy them again. Looking at the Toyo Open Country AT3 285/75R16. Experiences all? Ride comfort, snow , mud, etc?
It is sad how BFG has fallen. I had a set that were great until the day o wore them out. Now, they are not worth a crap on a heavy truck.
I am currently running Grabber ATXs. So far they are doing very well. I don’t think they will last past 50k Miles. My only real complaint is trivial. They have some ‘tread’ on the sidewall which is a pain to clean and shine up. Other than that they are good
toyo
when I worked at Firestone in Fallon NV. (many years ago) we put toyo tires on all the commercial trucks, power company, phone company, gas company, rail road trucks, military contractors exc.
bfg was our cheap tire for shoppers.
all my vehicles get toyo tires when I change them.
I like Dick Cepek Extremes on my powerstroke, good for mud and rain HORRIBLE in snow/ice.
Falken AT3/W is all I will ever run on a SUV or stock height truck. Amazing in all conditions except pretty heavy mud but that's what my other truck is for lol
Hit Man X, I think I'm going to capitalize on the Labor Day sales. America's tire has the Toyo AT 3 285/75R16 in stock. Going to run me about $1300 out the door, but I just don't want to do another deer season (if I even get one here in California as the Caldor fire has burnt most of my hunting areas) running them. Labor day sale is great advice for new shoes!
They have yuge deals often. Silly to not grab now if needed...I got myself four rebates on some street tires adding up to nearly $400 off. Includes their 0% card business, just pay them off!
Vets and their dependents can grab another 10% off on top of other deals.
Okay, just got the Toyo 285/75/R16 AT III's installed yesterday! Pretty excited. When I spoke with the guys at America's Tire in my area, he said they are flying off the shelves and hard to keep in stock. The drive home was nice. Definitely quieter than the BFG's. Heading to Tahoe for the frat brother reunion and then deer hunting so I'm glad I got them. Hopefully I will remember to update this thread in a few months. Thanks all!
What BFGs did you get? I'm in Southeast Texas and run BFG KO2 dt tires. I work for an organization with about 50 trucks in service at any point, from rangers to one tons. The trucks are all configured to drive in the grass/clay/mud, and they almost all have BFG KO2 dt tires. The original KO2 didn't hold up but the DTs have been doing great for us.
