I need to remove a broken dipstick tube on a 2002 F-250 Superduty, 5.4L, manual transmission.
It broke right below the attachment point to the exhaust manifold.
I have access from underneath, which is tight as the oil filter housing is there.
I'm looking to avoid removing the exhaust manifold.
It's rusted into the boss on the block fairly well, tried some heat with no luck.
Hoping somebody developed a trick to get these out.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Clamp a set of vise-grips onto the tube then using a bar and hammer give a good upward smack to the vise-grips. With a little luck the tube will pop up and out.
