Hello everyone I’m considering doing the “460 ego guys” mod, it’s a low profile intake. Along with that I’m doing headers and a full exhaust. Was wondering if anyone has tried removing the converter when they did this or replaced it with a high flow converter I do have an 02 sensor after the converter. This is the setup I wish I had. This is a MAF setup, so this is mine.
You wish you had speed density instead is mass air? That’s unusual. Most people want the flexibility to do performance mods that mass air provides.
Yes, you will need to either leave the current catalytic converter in place or replace it with another one. If there is no converter efficiency fault code then there is most likely nothing wrong with the current converter.
Theres no inherent "non-tunability" in a Speed Density setup. The Factory Speed Density computers just don't lend themselves to it easily, due to never being designed for it. Most of the aftermarket "Self-Learning" EFI setups are Speed Density setups. And they're quite tunable, if you're into getting in there and messing with things.

Which proves my point that factory SD is not as adaptable to mods compared to the factory MAF system.
i talked to Russel ( owner of 460 ego guys) he said he is currently in development for a low profile intake for the trucks with MAF.
Also is there anyway to delete the MAF system and convert it to the other one?
Yes but it's involved no matter how you look at it.
A quarterhorse might be able to run speed density on your current ECU, I'm not sure. If not then any option involves changing the ECU. There's no lack of choices at that point. Off the top of my head order of increasing expense: Speeduino, Megasquirt DIY, Factory SD ECU + Quarterhorse, Packaged Megasquirt (PIMP, EFISource, etc.), Holley, FAST, and the list goes on.

Sell it and find the right pickup. You are taking a step backwards and someone would be happy to buy your pickup rather than converting to mass air. If it has sentimental value, learn to work with your current setup. I don't think speed density does anything better than a tunable mass air system.
All these years, thread, after thread, after thread, on swapping to MAF, Please read more, and dont listen to 460 efi guys, they are trying to sell you a $500 hot air intake, Ford gave you MAF and ram/cold air intake straight from the factory, the 460 air intake is in your grill, put your headers on it and drive the ever lovin dog out of it.
red circle is where grill is.
