Right brake will not release causing brake to smoke
Help! We have a 1993 F350 Disel Duelly with low miles. Two years ago the right brake sometimes would not release. The caliper was replace along with new brakes and brake hose. The problem has returned. The brake seems to drag, sometimes getting so hot the brake will smoke. It may release and be just fine for a few days/weeks then it happens again. Any ideas on what causes this? Thanks! Donna

Thanks guys for the info. I forgot to add that this is the front right brake. They truck is getting new front calipers this week. It's sad that it has only 36,000 miles and this is the third set. Both failures were the right front. Thanks Donna

sometimes the flexible brake line collapses inward. this allows the hydraulic pressure to go to the caliper but when it tries to go back, the line collapses inward and traps the pressure against the caliper. this causes a brake bind like what you described. if the caliper is found to be free and not sticky, this might be your problem.
