Yesterday my 300 jumped out of a motor mount when I gave it a little too much gas in 1st. Been feeling them start to go for a while in the stick shift.
I ordered a new set from Rock Auto (Anchor kit 300079). Members have mentioned torque chains in other threads about this. Seems like the vertical motor mounts don't hold up as well to abuse, but the chains can help.
Is there a chain kit that fits this application, or is that a diy fab job? Also, any opinions on the kit from Rock? I'd be happy to send that back and source something tougher. I wouldn't say I beat the truck super hard but it is handy as a work truck around my land.
Uh. I have no idea why you think you need torque chains. Is this some kind of 12:1 Nitromethane breathing supercharged inline six? Just replace the motor mounts, they were obviously due, and if you felt them "moving" when you let the clutch out, you should have replaced them before they got bad enough to fail.
Motor/Transmission/Transfer Case Mounts are a wear item/maintenance item, just like most things. They wear out. I've never seen a "stock" pickup, from any manufacturer, with any engine/transmission package, that necessitated the use of torque limiting chains/straps.

neither have I. I would think someone, such as dodge, would do that but I haven’t ever heard of factory mounts being flat out subpar the job. But life span is a diff one lol
what kind of wheeling is he doing that the torque is a worry, or were they just that worn?i imagine not fixing that issue IS HELL on u joints and output shaft and pinion bearing

Nothing crazy, but Im not the first owner and there were other signs of a hard life. SFaulken is right it just came due and I ignored the warning signs. Read a couple things about chains and just needed a reality check I guess.
When the motor twisted it pulled the upper radiator hose into the steering pump pulley, which burned a hole in the hose. Hoping nothing else is severely damaged but we'll see.

Lol, yeah good point
Safe to say the projectile is perfectly fine, just the cage around it that may need a breather.
I've seen it done by welding a section of chain from one side of the mount to the other, with a little slack in it so it acts like a stock engine mount until it's heavily loaded by low-range shenanigans. Seemed like a good idea for a wheeler. Probably overkill on a Bricknose, though.
