Moving cross country, stopped at my dads last night for dinner and stayed the night before we head out for the last short leg of our trip. Went out this morning to walk the dogs and check on the truck/trailer and someone egged my truck last night. I spent the last 45 minutes or so cleaning it off with warm water and Dawn dish soap. When the car wash opens I’m going to drop the trailer, unload the bed, and run it through the car wash for good measure. Assuming they egged it right after I walked the dogs before bed last night it spent no more that 9 hours on the truck. Should I be concerned about the clear coat or the paint? Anything different I should do to take care of it?
Appreciate it fellas
The issue with egg is that the shell scratches the paint. Usually there are rings where the shell breaks and digs in. If you don't see these, consider yourself fortunate. You should be able to wash the car like normal and see what you're dealing with.
I don't know about the egg but a car wash on brand new paint??? I can see swirls et etcetera in your paint happening. Maybe if it's a touchless car wash.
Two bucket method would be best. Soapy water in one, clean rinse water in the other. Dip in soapy water, wash, rinse in clean, repeat.
Cleaning it off is the main thing, which it sounds like you have done. What Billy described happened to my wifes car. Never did get the rings out completely.
After you get it completely clean take a close look, polish if needed then put your favorite wax, sealant, coating back over the area.

Ill give it a thorough look, I didn’t see anything when I washed it this morning but I was also on the phone with the insurance company prepping them in case the clear coat is ruined. Based on the splatter it looked like it wasn’t a straight on hit, but at a pretty acute angle as it splattered from initial contact at my gas door up to my drivers door. I’m going to take it to a self wash here soon to make sure it’s well cleaned and then I’ll put some wax on the truck to give it something in case it did affect the clear coat
Yea, unfortunately I’ve got a bit of that myself, not as bad as that image but there is some. I’ll try and clean it up when I get to the final stop but sounds like it will just be a fact of life unfortunately

You did/doing the right thing. I doubt you'll see anything, but if so, it's in the clear coat which can be corrected. If it even comes to that.
