Yes, the grab handle inside the truck. Is it possibly a defective handle? It broke within the first few months of ownership
In 50 years of climbing in and our of trucks, having friends use the handles for circus rides and honestly just being brutal when off roading... I have never seen nor heard of of grab handle breaking off..
So either your son is Thor and you have bigger issues with a demigod or that dang handle is as defective as a three dollar bill.
I'd like to see pictures of the handle and where it broke, if you could take some. My dad is 300# and practically hangs from his handles when getting into his super duty and hasn't been left laying on the ground yet.
They said it was broken "by accident" and that's not covered. The truck was purchased Nov 2020.
I will take some pictures.
That's BS. Push it up the chain of command. Speak with the service manager if you can. Get your salesperson involved to put the screws to them. They're being lazy.
My dealer didn't want to deal with my leaking battery. I kept pushing and it was eventually replaced.
I feel like this is lawsuit waiting to happen. These things are meant to be grabbed. If someone falls and hurts themselves because of this breaking, Ford is in for it.
Well at least you can get replacements cheap, I will say make sure they are torqued and avoid side loading them. There is plenty of take off handle sets available Here.
Oh wow! That sucks. I hope your son didn't hurt himself. I thought it was just a plastic covering over a metal reinforced handle. Everyone who gets in my truck has to use those handles and I've never had an issue. I'll have to tell everyone to be careful.
Man that sucks - I gotta believe that you happened to get a bad handle. I've put *way* more than 180 pounds on that thing and it never budges.
But given your experience, I kind of want to 3D scan them and mill them out of aluminum alloy. Of course, they'd be ridiculously expensive but it's unlikely they'd ever break.
