Man I just want the damn tires and steering to stay ON THE GROUND when going over bumps. Damn thing jumps sideways. They already did the dampener but I think I will just have to but a new one in myself and stop playing footsy with Ford service on my new truck
Changing from cheap factory twin tube shocks to aftermarket monotube shocks is truly an upgrade. The Fox and Bilstien shocks being suggested are monotube designs which are superior to the twin tube for fade resistance and response to impacts, pretty much everything that is important in a shock absorber except price. https://www.carparts.com/blog/monotu...ur-suspension/
Got the 5100's installed tonight and WOW, what a difference! No more bounce or shaking back and forth of any bumps. So much more controlled. It will be interesting to see how it does once I hook to the trailer but all of the front and back bucking is completely gone. The old ones still feel reasonably firm when off the truck, but I can push them down fairly easy. 1000% better ride!
That is a flat out crazy stance to take. But of course, you're entitled to your opinion. Having said that, you clearly haven't ridden in something with decent shocks. When most people go from an inexpensive shock to a set of 2.5's, they'll be blown away. Of course there is always the matter of cost vs benefit, but to say it's all snake oil is....
20023369[/url]]Bingo! Just like which oil is the best.
I don’t like that analogy. Shocks can fail and many of us have seen shocks fail. It might be preference, but there is an obvious difference in ride between different shock options. Oil on the other hand would never make it through any blind test. You fill one up with Amsoil and one with Quaker State, there will be no perceptible difference between the two and no measurable difference in wear over time.
Ready to replace the stock FX4 5000’s and the stock steering stabilizer at 37k. Never really cared for the way they ride. Was going to go Bilstein 5100 but there aren’t any rears available anywhere I’ve looked and most have a 2-3 month estimate. I wanted a little more than the 4600 and wanted urethane bushings. So, I’m going to go with the Rancho 9000XL since they are available and already have the upgraded bushings. All things considered on the threads I’ve read those who have them seem to like them.
Absolutely one of the best upgrades you can make on your truck. Any aftermarket monotube shock will be a much better ride and performer. Swapped to 4600s and love them. Two fellow SuperDuty owners drove my truck and ordered them immediately.
You can judge the difference with your calibrated butt dyno or a seismic app for your phone over the same stretch of road. The stockers will have jerky peaks and waves as well as indication of cycling or several rebounds after hitting the bump. My Bilsteins had a much longer wave period and less cycling. This equals perceived comfort.
What would you guys recommend for my 22 lariat 250 w/7.3? I want better ride comfort but don't want any additional lift. Do they affect towing capacity?

Bilstein 4600s. 100%.
But drive 1000 miles on the stock shocks so you can appreciate the money spent! :-)

Right answer but I can't do yellow and blue. Ill explore the 5100 option (have them on F150 now). Maybe icon will offer? I think Falcon has some but for the price I need more reviews.

The 5100's work stock or not. Icon does offer shocks for the Super Duty https://www.stage3motorsports.com/66...ift-shock.html I would verify that 0-2.5" before installing on a stock truck. Never heard of Falcon shocks.
