1986 f700 tach issues

Ive got a 86 f700 sometimes the tack reads a little bit but usually not at all is it a bad sensor or bad tach?

Did you check the connections? What else have you done to try to diagnose it?

I checked the connection at the sensor during my lunch break im going to check at the tach and check the voltage
