body lift question

i have a 79 bronco and i was thinking about putting a 2-3"in body lift on it. could anyone tell me what exactly i would be getting myself into? i have looked under the bronco and saw the the three bolts and bushing on each side that hold the frame to the body. i have been putting lubrication on those to get ready for a lift and i was wondering how many other places on the vehicle are holding the frame and body together. also, if i were only going to put a small body lift on the vehicle, would it create a really noticeable gap between the bumpers and the body?

Other than the body-to-frame mounts you will slightly change steering linkage angle. If the radiator mounts to the body then you may have to lower it to keep it in front of the fan. Brake lines are usually flexible enough to stretch a couple of inches between the master cylinder mounted to the firewall in the body and the proportioning valve which is usually mounted to the frame. Your shift linkage may need to be adjusted. Electrical harnesses will usually move enough to make up for the gap where ever it may cross from body to frame. These are just a few things to keep in mind. The lift manufacturer should include information on any of these things that will need to be taken into account when installing their lift.

The gap between body and frame is what it is. If you really want to know how it will look before you install it, you might find someone with a nice photo editing program and let them digitally alter a photo of the truck to reflect the approximate amount of lift you will be installing. I rarely make an external mod. to the truck without doing it digitally first.

Photo shop is fun.
I even remade a pic of my 82 from the side and turned it into a dragster, or drag rig, or something
A couple of days ago, I was trouble shooting a customers tow truck, supposidly it would freak and run 2 funtions at a time, were getting the valvebody checked as we speak.
But, anyway. It would not act up on us all day, So I decided to put some pressure on the hydrolics. So I donated my bronco to be the ginni pig.
I parked it right behind the towtruck and proceded to clamp the wheels and jack it up *** if it was repoing cars, So I jacke the front up untill the rear bumper was about 2" from hitting the ground and I could see the hole underside. Then a thought came to me, So I snapped a few pics of it doing a wheelstand.
I'm going to photo shop it and take away the towtruck and add a christmas tree, and another dragster in the background and lots of smoke around the rear wheels. I'm also gonna give it headers that exit right behind the front wheels.

Just wanted to share, I don't usually rant.

Another thing that you should look for is the Brackets to lift up the front and rear bumpers.
