Apologies in advance if this is a dumb topic and series of questions - I have severe OCD and two big hairy dogs that go everywhere with me.
I've been researching vehicles that would allow me to optimize dealing with the dog hair. Generally leather seats are helpful, but I spent some time in a F-150 work truck recently and noted the vinyl floors would be amazing. Unfortunately I don't think I can spec a Lariat F-150 with the carpet delete.. so this had me looking at the F-250 even though it is admittedly way more vehicle than I actually need.
For those that have the carpet delete is there really no carpet in the truck anywhere? I'm curious what the underside of the 2nd row seat has with the carpet delete optioned?
Alternatively has anyone ever taken a 150/1500 series truck and done a carpet delete aftermarket? or potentially is there a different vehicle I should be looking at that can be had with a carpet delete? I'm pretty sure the FJ cruiser can be had without carpet but unfortunately finding a clean one is getting almost impossible since they stopped production in 2014.
thanks Joe. any idea what material the 2nd row bench is upholstered with on the bottom side when carpet delete is selected?
Same as when carpet is on the floor. The leather seats have a cloth bottom side. You can get vinyl seats in an XL, not sure what the bottom side is made of on those.
Yeah I think that's what I'm going to look at.. the STX. Maybe do leather seats aftermarket not sure if those turn out good or not.
A lot of people like Katskinz(not sure on the spelling). I have a friend with Katskinz leather and have been really surprised at how well they have held up to his large dog over the years.
If I planned leather I would go with an XLT premium with the options including heated seats. You would just need to make sure the underside is vinyl/leather material.
I ordered the carpet delete on my new truck. Still waiting for it’s arrival.
Do you still add floor mats with carpet delete?
I would (not carpeted ofcourse), a good mat like a Husky or Weathertech can catch most debris, mud, water, snow etc. instead of spreading throughout. Easy clean up, remove and spray off, thats why I would choose to get mats. Also, I posted this in another thread, not a big deal for most, but if you bring in a lot of rain water or snow it can tend to run under the sill plates, into a channel, instead of over and out.

I have a 22 XLT on order with carpet delete. Since my trucks not even scheduled yet,I’m waiting to come across a good sale on the Husky X Act Contours. No sense in wearing out the vinyl floor.
I am the outlier, I have had rubber floor in several trucks, love it, skip the mats. I drag mud and snow in the truck regularly and have had zero issues cleaning up afterwards. My current truck is going on 10 years old with 190k miles on it and my opinion is, you would have to try really hard to "wear out" the flooring. It is tough as nails, easy to clean and doesn't need mats.
