Sealing stake pockets...
How are you guys sealing the seams where the stake pocket laps onto the bad?
I was planning to use 3m heavy bodied seam sealer...but Im not sure if it is sandable?
So do you guys have something you use?
Do you tape and smooth them?

I cheated...
I bought a new bed from Midwest Early Ford and the pockets aren't cut into it.

Im referring to the seam where the tube is spotted to the bedside.

I’m not sure what you’d use, but that seam sealer is like concrete when it cures. You might have success with J-B Weld.

I don't completely understand your question about the stake pockets and the need to seal them but I can answer your question about the 3M heavy body seam sealer. Yes, you can sand the cured seam sealer...it's like sanding a hockey puck. I use this product exclusively on the roof drip rails to replace the OEM sealer.

These are the areas I am referring too. Does it seal up fine after being sanded?

I don't seal those seams...but if I were to attempt it I would use some KBS Rust Seal and do my best to work it into the gaps.

Guess it depends on the look you want. The horizontal seam, I would weld closed and grind. Looks like you know what you are doing there with welding. For the vertical, I would leave it but depends on what you want.
